Genre categorises different products that share similar features or characteristics such as films. It helps establish differences between media forms and aids the audiences to develop personal tastes around genre and consumption. Examples are such as Hybrid Genre which is a mix of genres and Sub-genre which are things you'd expect from that genre.
When it comes to my personal preference I like Thriller, Drama and Sci-fi as they are completely different from one another and have iconic films within there category such as 'Shutter Island', 'Interstellar' and 'Drive'.
