Analysis of 3 Title Sequences; Panic Room

Camera

- Throughout the beginning and middle of the title sequence extreme long shots are used to display buildings of Manhattan. The camera pans to the left and right a lot during the intro to show the sheer size of the city with 'birds-eye' view angles and 'worm-eye' views.

- On the final part of the title sequence the camera pans downwards from a long shot to show the two women talking and walking towards the camera.

Editing

- 3D text is used to display cast member's names on the side or front of the sky scrappers with each shot lasting on average up to 3 seconds.

Sounds

- The score of the title sequence builds great tension and suspense to get the audience members feeling a certain emotion that relates to the genre of a thriller. Ambient sound of cars and traffic congestion can be heard to maybe make it feel a bit more realistic to Manhattan. The ticking of a clock can be heard which adds even greater tension.

Mise-en-scene

- The location of the title sequence is set in Manhattan while its daytime. The lighting is bright and the costumes of the two characters are of casual clothing.
